BETTY

Female, shar-pei mix, 5 years old and 65 pounds

UPDATE 1/21/26

Betty was in foster care for almost 3 months, and only returned to the shelter because her foster mom had a medical issue to deal with. Betty is hypervigilant, possibly due to some trauma. She initially is very shy and withdrawn, shutting down in new environments, however, when she first arrived in foster, it only took a couple of days before she came when called, and went straight into her crate, which is her safe space. She hangs out with a couple of the other dogs, but doesn't initial contact. Once a routine is established, she follows it without problem. She walks ok on leash, but again, is constantly looking around to make sure she's safe. It will take some time for her to develop trust in a human, but once she does, she feels more secure. She is able to bond, and has sat on the couch with her foster mom, putting her head on mom's lap. Betty is a home-body. The best home for her would be one that is predictable, calm, and peaceful.

Betty is a quiet soul with the softest eyes and the gentlest heart. Found abandoned, underweight, and suffering from skin issues, this 5-year-old girl has already been through so much. But thanks to some much-needed care and kindness, Betty is finally starting to heal — both inside and out. She’s still learning that people can be good and that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Right now, she’s a bit shy and reserved, preferring to observe from a safe distance as she takes everything in. But with time, patience, and a calm environment, we know she’ll blossom into a loyal, loving companion. We’re still getting to know Betty, but what we do know is that she deserves a forever home that will love her unconditionally and give her all the time she needs to feel safe and secure.

If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let Betty come out of her shell at her own pace — she just might be your perfect match. 💕

Whether he’s chasing a ball, exploring the yard, or just soaking up attention, Rufus brings joy wherever he goes. He’s still learning the ropes when it comes to basic manners, so he’ll thrive with someone ready to invest a little time and patience into training. Rufus seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs and would likely do great with a playful pup sibling.

TAYLOR

Male, Pibull mix, 2 years old and 62 pounds

Taylor is a handsome 2-year-old male Pit Bull mix with a playful heart and a gentle soul. This sweet guy loves to romp around, play with toys, and show off his best trick—sit—especially if there’s a treat involved! While Taylor is full of love, he can be a little wary of new people at first. With a slow introduction and a bit of patience, he quickly warms up and reveals his goofy, affectionate side. He’s the kind of dog who forms strong bonds and will be a loyal companion once he feels safe and comfortable.

Taylor may do well with other dogs after a proper introduction, so a meet-and-greet with any potential canine siblings would be a great idea. He’s still young and would thrive with continued training and structure to help him be his best self. If you’re looking for a playful, loving dog with a big heart and a bright future, come meet Taylor—he might just be your new best friend!

CHESTER

Male, Mixed large breed,1 year old and 50 pounds

Chester needs a home that will help him build some confidence. He was brought to us as a single puppy, and we are assuming he did not have a whole lot of exposure to people, so he is a little shy at first. Chester is currently in a foster home getting lots of attention. He is currently being housed with other dogs and even cats! Chester also seems to like to play with toys and to sit in laps!

TESS

Mixed Breed SPAYED female, 2-3 years old and 56 beautiful pounds.

Beautiful Tess was adopted, but came back to the shelter due to her guardian's personal issues. This beautifuldog is friendly and sweet and loves to be around people. She walks well on leash and enjoys getting out and about. Tess loves her toys she can entertain herself for hours. Her guardian told us Tess loves to play, does well when left alone, enjoys car rides, and loves playing fetch and romping in water! We think Tess will be a fine companion for a home with children. What’s not to love?

PEDRO

Male, Pit mix, 3 years old and 65 pounds

Pedro is a charming adult dog with a heartwarming and sweet personality. He is a loving companion who enjoys spending time with his favorite humans. Pedro may be a little shy at first, but he warms up quickly once he feels comfortable with you. Unfortunately, we do not have enough information about Pedro's history with other dogs. Therefore, it is best to introduce him slowly to other dogs and monitor his behavior. Overall, Pedro is a delightful companion who will undoubtedly bring joy and love to his forever home.

ROSS

Mixed Breed male, 4 years old and 60 handsome pounds.

Ross is friendly and he really enjoys meeting new people. This handsome boy knows sit and he also appears to be house-trained. Of course, he loves going on walks, exploring around the shelter, and he walks nicely on leash. Ross would enjoy a canine friend and a nice outdoor area to hang out and play in his new home.

GARY

Lab, male puppy, 1 year old and 50 pounds

Gary is a typical adorable, friendly, and active puppy! He loves playing and is eager to please and would probably LOVE taking a training class or two. We think Gary will mature into a medium-large adult dog. Like all puppies, Gary will need proper training, care and attention to ensure he becomes a well-behaved and much loved member of the family.

JOPLIN

Mixed breed SPAYED female, 2 years old and a gorgeous 70 pounds.

Joplin is very sweet but she’s overwhelmed finding herself at the shelter. She can be a little nervous meeting new people, but we think she will be feeling much more comfortable once she spends time with our great volunteers. Joplin is easy to walk and enjoys getting outside where she can sniff to her heart’s delight. Indoors, Joplin is mellow. Joplin came from a hoarding situation, and unfortunately, she did not get much socialization with people—but that’s all going to change now that she’s safe and sound at the Shelter.
