RED

Mixed Breed male, 2 years old and 80 handsome pounds

Handsome Red is a sweet dog who’s been at the shelter for many months. He can appear rough around the edges due to past experiences, but his affectionate side will be apparent when he finds a loving home and guardian. In the shelter environment, Red feels comfortable in his kennel, and recently he has refused to go out for walks. A good match for Rded is a home with folks who will appreciate his sweet qualities, and have experience with shy and anxious dogs. Red really is a love, but his spirit has ebbed, and he needs to get out of the shelter and into a loving home asap. We’re not sure how Red reacts to all dogs, so he will need to meet any potential canine housemates at the shelter before being adopted. Update from Red's foster** 9-13-25** Red may seem shy and unsure when you meet him at the shelter, but don't let that fool you- this sweet boy blossoms in a home environment. His foster reports that Red is playful, affectionate, and full of puppy-like charm once he feels safe. He's wonderfully friendly with other dogs, including the little ones and would love a "helper" dog friend in his new home. He shows a curious interest in cats. With proper supervision and a gentle introduction, we believe Red could enjoy having a feline friend. He struggles with the noise and stress of shelter life, but in a calm home, he transforms into a relaxed, joyful companion who just wants to be loved. Red does best when he has a routine and structure so this will be important in his new home. If you're looking for a loyal friend with a goofy, gentle soul, Red is ready to show you who he really is.

ROSS

Mixed Breed male, 4 years old and 60 handsome pounds.

Ross is friendly and he really enjoys meeting new people. This handsome boy knows sit and he also appears to be house-trained. Of course, he loves going on walks, exploring around the shelter, and he walks nicely on leash. Ross would enjoy a canine friend and a nice outdoor area to hang out and play in his new home.

ELLIE

Mixed Breed female, 2 years old and 53 lovely pounds

Beauty plus a great personality—that’s Ellie in a nutshell! This delightful girl is very sweet and affectionate, and she enjoys human contact. Ellie enjoys going on walks and has great indoor manners.

JOPLIN

Mixed breed SPAYED female, 2 years old and a gorgeous 70 pounds.

Joplin is very sweet but she’s overwhelmed finding herself at the shelter. She can be a little nervous meeting new people, but we think she will be feeling much more comfortable once she spends time with our great volunteers. Joplin is easy to walk and enjoys getting outside where she can sniff to her heart’s delight. Indoors, Joplin is mellow. Joplin came from a hoarding situation, and unfortunately, she did not get much socialization with people—but that’s all going to change now that she’s safe and sound at the Shelter.

PACINO

Mixed Breed male, 1 year old and 57 handsome pounds

PACINO UPDATE! Mr. Pacino went on a Fido Field Trip with one of our volunteers! Here what she told us: Pacino is such a sweetheart. He appears to be potty trained. He loved the car ride, and loves his toys! Pacino really likes men, and he’s a lover. He's a typical bulldog and can be stubborn if he doesn’t want to go where you want him to— he thinks he is calling the shots! Pacino has a high prey drive and it would take some time and patience for him to get used to a kitty. He is a doll and he’s smart.

BONUS! One of our awsome volunteers will be sponsering a portion of Pacinos adoption fee!

Pacino was brought to the shelter by an Animal Protection officer. You can see that he has lots of scars that look like he was in a dog fight. We found Pacino to be very friendly and outgoing with people. With other dogs he was not reactive but also not trusting. Pacino will have to meet any potential dog housemates. Pacino walks nicely on leash and enjoys going for walks.

COURTESY POST--INDIO

FROM INDIO’S GUARDIAN Meet Indio - he is 100lbs of LOVE! Indio is a 5-6 year old, neutered, American Bulldog. Mr. I loves to be close by at all times. He should probably be the only dog in the house based on his past, but he has not been dog reactive with us when on leash. He doesn’t seem prey driven either, but he hasn’t been around cats with us. He does great on leash and he’s really very mellow. We rescued him so he wouldn’t be put down in Glenn County, but we are committed to fostering now, so we want to find him a good home. No adoption fee. IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT, OR MEETING INDIO, PLEASE CALL AMY AT THE UKIAH SHELTER: 467-6453 OR INDIO'S GUARDIAN AT (530)277-5891.
