RIP

Mixed Breed NEUTERED male, 1 year and 55-ish pounds

FIDO FIELD TRIP UPDATE! Our wonderful volunteer Angela took her favorite dog, RIP, out on a Fido Field Trip. Here's what she told us: "Rip is my favorite dog at the shelter, and the more time I spend with him, the more I learn about him, and get to see his wonderful self. I took Rip to the lake and he loved watching the ducks swim and geese fly by. There were people and dogs of all ages passing by and he didn’t seem to be bothered by any of them. People were commenting on him how happy he looked and they loved his markings. Of course I told them he’s available for adoption! He rode well in a crate in my car, we did lots of hiking and walking around, and then sat watching the water, giving him some quiet and peaceful time. It did him good. I hope someone considers meeting him. Those that aren't are missing out a really good dog."

We love all of our dog and cat guests...but our wonderful volunteers sometimes fall head over heels in love with a certain, special dog. And Rip is the lucky recipient of that love from one of our great volunteers--Angela. Here's what she told us about RIP: "My little buddy Rip needs a home! He is wound up tight in his kennel. He’s about a year old, neutered and an avid ball fetcher. I spend a couple days a week with him. He loves to play ball! That’s all he wants to do. After I tire him, out we practice walking on leash because he likes to pull. Pocket full of treats and a clicker has been helping him realize he doesn’t need to act like a sled dog haha! This guy is super fun, energetic, treat motivated, knows basic commands, dog friendly (don’t know about cats), & also has a loving side to him too. With the proper training and secured fencing (he can jump!) I can see him being a terrific family dog. You can meet him at the Shelter!" THANK YOU, ANGELA!

Rip is so friendly and sweet with people he knows and is comfortable with. He can be worried about meeting some new people, but can be bribed with treats, and THEN he becomes their new BFF. An ideal guardian for Rip would be an experienced dog owner who can do basic training and help Rip gain confidence—i.e. by taking him out to experience new environments and meet new people and going to dog classes. Rip is playful and puppy-like with toys and very dog friendly. He appears playful (rough and rowdy) with other dogs, so a canine friend with a similar play style would be ideal.
